Quite an enthralling noir styled animation. Colours are used sparingly, drawing from a select palate. The score is an integral part of the short, providing much of the mood and intensity, allowing the visuals to remain understated. The narration by Nick Cave intertwining with the music in quite a sumptuous manner. Its been shortlisted for the ‘animated short’ category of the Academy Awards, which sadly aren’t being hosted by Wolverine this year.

This was my first exposure to such a bizarre concept as the Cat Piano. Sure enough the internet provides us with more background on the “Katzenklavier” (In case you were interested).
